Suspicious object which sparked Stoneyford security alert turns out to be a hoax

A ‘suspicious object’ which sparked a security alert in Stoneyford has been declared a hoax.

The security alert which began this morning has now ended.


ATO and police have examined the object and it has been removed for further examination. All roads have now re-opened and residents are back in their homes.

Officers are appealing to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the Stoneyford Road area recently or who has any information which could assist them with their enquiries to contact police in Lisburn on 101 quoting reference number 25 06/05/20.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
