A driver is suspected of driving the wrong way around a roundabout at speed in Cookstown while allegedly drunk in the early hours of this morning.
Police arrived at the A29 roundabout near the Dungannon Road just after 5am this morning to find remnants of road signs scattered everywhere and a wrecked car lying on its side.
Police say the driver was located.
“The car had entered the roundabout the wrong way and at significant speed, taking out multiple signs and a crash barrier.
“Doesn’t take an expert to figure out the result if another car had been on the roundabout at the same time,” said a police spokesperson.
Police say this was another near miss and that the only ones to blame are the selfish drunks who get behind the wheel.
