Travellers returning to Northern Ireland from Spain after midnight tonight will have to quarantine for 14 days.
The Department of Health said the decision was taken following medical and scientific advice.
There has been a spike in COVID-19 cases in Spain, with more than 900 new cases on Friday.
Spanish officials have also said a second wave could occur as major cities have seen the number of positive cases increase.
The Foreign Office advises against all but essential travel to mainland Spain.
The quarantine applies to those returning from mainland Spain, the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands, such as Palma and Ibiza.
