Two masked men, one of whom was reported to have been armed with what was described as a large knife, have fled with cash from a takeaway in the Crebilly Road area of Ballymena.
The robbery happened in the early hours of the morning.
Detectives in Ballymena are appealing for information following the incident.
The suspect who was armed is believed to have been wearing navy tracksuit bottoms and a hooded top with a white stripe. The second suspect is thought to have been wearing a blue hoodie and navy trousers, possibly jeans.
Detective Sergeant Coulter said police received a report just after midnight that two masked men, one of whom was reported to have been armed with what was described as a large knife had entered the takeaway in the Crebilly Road area and demanded money. They subsequently fled on foot with a sum of money.
“There were no reports of any injuries, however, this must have been a frightening ordeal for staff who were simply doing their job in their place of work,” said the Detective Sergeant.
And he is appealing to anyone who was in the area to contact police.
“I want to appeal to anyone who was in the area just prior to, or after midnight, and saw two males matching the description of the suspects or who has information which may assist our investigation to call us on the non emergency number 101, quoting reference number 3 of 19/05/19,” added the Detective Sergeant.
