A ‘viable’ device found in Carrickfergus has been taken away for further examination.
Police were called to a suspicious object found in the Sullatober Square area this morning (Monday 10 August).
A number of residents were evacuated during the operation.
Army technical officers were called to examine the object and it was declared as viable.
The object was taken away for further examination.
Police would like to thank the local community for their patience as officers worked to make the area safe.
Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident.
