‘Disgusting and should be condemned’ – those are the words of Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney after Willie Frazer was mocked on a sign on an anti-internment bonfire in Newry.
Mr Frazer’s father a part-time UDR soldier, was killed in an IRA gun attack in 1975.
A sign inscribed with the words ‘Willie Frazer have you found your daddy yet?’ was displayed on top of the bonfire on Wednesday.
The incident has been condemned by all the main parties.
Sinn Féin said those who put up the sign taunting the victims’ campaigner were not ‘acting in the name of republicanism.’
