A female staff member who was leaving a service station in Dungannon was approached by a man brandishing a knife and demanding money.
The woman screamed after he opened the passenger side door of her vehicle, and the suspect ran off.
The incident happened in the Beech Valley area last night (Monday, 28th October). Police are appealing for information.
Detective Sergeant Robinson said: “We received a report just after 8:05pm that as a staff member was leaving her workplace a man approached her vehicle and opened the passenger side door brandishing a knife and demanded money.
“The woman screamed and the suspect ran off.”
Police believe the suspect may have been accompanied by another man.
He is described as being approximately 5ft 6” tall, of slight build and he spoke with a local accent. He’s believed to have been wearing a grey hooded top with the hood pulled up.
“This was a frightening experience for the victim. Thankfully, she was not physically injured, but she has understandably been left shaken by this despicable act.
“I want to appeal to anyone who may have been in the area around this time last night, and who believes they saw a male matching the description of the suspect to get in touch. I would also ask anyone who has information they may believe would assist our investigation to call detectives on 101, quoting reference 1833 of 28/10/19,” added Detective Sergeant Robinson.
