A woman in her 70s was left badly shaken after two masked men entered her bedroom and demanded money from her at her home in the Belvoir estate in south Belfast.
The men left empty handed.
Detectives are appealing for information following the burglary at Castlecoole Park area yesterday evening (Tuesday, March 19).
Detective Sergeant McCallum said the incident occurred shortly after 8:20pm.
“It was reported that two masked men entered a house in the area and into an upstairs bedroom. A woman in her 70s was in the bedroom at the time of the incident, as the men demanded money from her. The men then left the house empty handed and the female resident was left badly shaken, but not injured,” said the Detective Sergeant.
The men are described as being around 5ft 10 and they were wearing dark clothing and gloves.
“We are appealing to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 1390 19/3/19.
“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime,” added the detective.
