Yellow weather warning for Northern Ireland – but will it deter festive shoppers?

Heavy rain and strong winds are expected tomorrow across Northern Ireland, according to the Met Office.

A Yellow Warning has been issued for tomorrow (Saturday) with persistent heavy rain and gusts of wind up to 60mph.

The rain could deter shoppers, despite falling on what’s expected to be one of the busiest days in the run up to Christmas.

The warning is in effect from 6am to 6pm on Saturday.

Spray and flooding on roads could make journey times longer and flooding of homes and businesses is possible, says the Met Office.

High-sided vehicles should expect delays and there may be some short term loss of power and other services.

Some festive events may be affected by the adverse weather.
