More than 7,000 applications for primary school places have been received by the Education Authority via its online system within its first day of operation.
The demand was so high that the EA experienced technical problems earlier today.
The Education Authority said it was working to resolve these and it kept parents up to date via social media.
Parents are reminded that the closing date and time for pre-school and primary one applications will be midnight on Thursday, January 31.
Places are not allocated on a first come first served basis, and schools and play groups will not consider applications until after the closing date.

EA has successfully received more than 4500 applications on its new online system for pre-school and primary school places in the first number of hours. A small number of users have experienced some difficulties and EA is working to actively resolve these difficulties.

The Education Authority had successfully received approximately 7000 applications on its new online system for pre-school and primary school places by mid-afternoon today. We are still experiencing a high level of business but applications continue to be successfully received.
