Firefighters have rescued a man from an upstairs room after a fire broke out in the kitchen of the terraced property at Carntall Road in Carnmoney.
The emergency services received a call shortly after 3pm today. Firefighters from Glengormley and Ballyclare dealt with the blaze.
A Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire in the kitchen and rescued the man, who is in his 40s, from a first floor bedroom using a ladder.
“Firefighters treated him at the scene with oxygen. A sounding smoke alarm alerted the occupant to the fire. The cause of the fire was determined as accidental. The incident was dealt with at 3.40pm,” said a NIFRS spokesperson.
