A house was gutted and another damaged in what police are treating as an arson attack in the Old Mossley estate in Newtownabbey.
The blaze broke out just before 2pm at Birchmount on Saturday.
It’s understood that a recycling bin to the rear of the houses was set alight and the flames then spread to the homes. Two vehicles parked outside were also extensively damaged.
Detectives are investigating the incident and are appealing for witnesses.
Fire crews rushed to the scene and tried to stop the blaze spreading, but photos taken showed that it spread rapidly, emitting thick black smoke.
Detectives are working to establish a motive and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch on 101, quoting reference 675 13/04/19.
