If you hear a burglar alarm ringing, report it to police.
That’s the message this week from the PSNI following a recent spate of burglaries in the Antrim and Newtownabbey district.
Police were out and about last night (Sunday) conducting vehicle check points and patrolling areas all over Newtownabbey.
They say their aim is to provide the community with some reassurance and reduce the fear of crime.
“We need your help folks. If you hear a house alarm going off report it.
“Don’t delay or presume it’s a false alarm – get straight on the phone we will respond as soon as we possibly can – we could just be around the corner,” said a PSNI spokesperson.
They say police have in the past been conducting house to house enquiries after a recent burglary, only to be told by residents they made the presumption it was a false alarm or that someone else would ring.
