This year’s Independents’ Day takes place on Wednesday 4 July in Mid-Ulster.
The initiative encourages residents to support their independent retailers and to shop local.
There is an array of shops in Mid Ulster with a depth of opportunities available in the district’s 5 town centres- Coalisland, Cookstown, Dungannon, Maghera and Magherafelt.
The Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Sean McPeake, has stressed the importance of supporting local retailers.
“The Mid Ulster district is renowned for its niche selection of independent retailers right across our five town centres. Independents’ Day acts a timely reminder for us all to shop local and support our local traders. For every pound spent with local independent retailers, 70p remains in our local economy,” he said.
And he added that he hoped residents fully embrace Independents’ Day and come out in force to support their retailers.
The Independents’ Day campaign is being run in conjunction with Retail NI.
