‘Mindless vandals’ have smashed up the boardwalk at Ballinderry Rivers Trust at Orritor on the outskirts of Cookstown, leaving the mussel breeding tanks inaccessible.
A police constable has said he’s been left saddened by the ‘mindless destruction of a vital community education resource.’ Around £1,000 worth of damage has been caused.
This educational area where the glen walkway is situated is used to teach children about the water cycle and life in the rivers at Ballinderry.

Ballinderry Rivers Trust say the staff are unable to bring groups of pupils into the glen, neither can they access their mussel breeding tanks.
Constable Semple is asking for the help of the public in tracing the culprits who, he says, have caused damage to the facility amounting to around £1000 to repair.

“If you have any information please contact Constable Semple on 101 or by contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111,” he added.
